
Ball State Selected as NCAA Men’s Golf Regional Host for 2021

Cardinals will host at The Sagamore Club in conjunction with Hamilton County Sports Authority
MUNCIE, Ind. -- When Ball State served as the host institution for an NCAA Men's Golf Regional in 2015, the event brought eventual national champions to The Sagamore Club in Noblesville.
In 2021, Central Indiana will again have the opportunity to showcase some of the best college golfers in the country. The NCAA has awarded Ball State, the Hamilton County Sports Authority and The Sagamore Club another regional, set for May 17-19, 2021.
"We are honored and excited to be hosting another men's golf regional at The Sagamore Club," Ball State men's golf coach Mike Fleck said. "The exposure for our athletic department and golf program is invaluable, and we are looking forward to hosting some of the best teams and players in the country."
Illinois and SMU shared the team championship at the 2015 Noblesville Regional, which featured SMU's Bryson DeChambeau and Oregon's Aaron Wise. DeChambeau went on the win the individual national championship in 2015, and Wise followed him in 2016 by taking the individual title and leading Oregon to the team national championship.
Ball State's Johnny Watts, then a freshman, also competed in the 2015 regional as an automatic qualifier after winning the Mid-American Conference championship.
The Sagamore Club, a Jack Nicklaus design that opened in 2003, features a par-72 layout that can play to a length of 7,173 yards. It also hosted the NCAA Division II Championships in 2010. The club's PGA professional is Dan Witt, a Ball State alumnus who lettered in golf for the Cardinals from 1999-2002.
The Hamilton County Sports Authority is a leading promoter of regional and amateur sports development. It promotes events in Hamilton County and serves as a resource for organizations in bidding on and planning for events.
Noblesville and Hamilton County are located southwest of Muncie, with The Sagamore Club less than an hour's drive from the Ball State campus.
