Destiny Washington Named MAC West Division Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sophomore guard Destiny Washington earned Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week honors Tuesday after helping Ball State women's basketball post a 2-0 record last week.

In the Cardinals 90-63 road win at Akron last Wednesday, Washington came off the bench to score a career-high 25 points off of an impressive 11-of-13 shooting effort from the field. She also grabbed nine rebounds.

Saturday at Miami, she again proved to be the spark off the bench the Cardinals needed, leading Ball State in scoring for the second-straight contest with a 21-point performance. She also grabbed six boards to help the Cardinals defeat the RedHawks, 81-60.

For the week, Washington averaged 23.0 points while shooting 74 percent (17-of-23) from the field. She also pulled down 7.5 rebounds per contest and shot 80 percent (12-of-15) from the charity stripe.

The Ball State women's basketball team hosts Bowling Green Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Worthen Arena.
