Soccer Welcomes 10 Additions to 2017 Roster

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Coming off back-to-back Mid-American Conference regular season championships, the Ball State soccer team has added 10 players to its roster for 2017, as announced by head coach Craig Roberts.

High School/Club: Lettered four years at Lawrenceburg for coach Bill Offutt … holds school record for career assists (33) and ranks second in program history for career goals (56) … two-time first-team all-district … honorable mention all-state as a junior … an all-county and all-conference selection all four years … scored at least 10 goals in each of her four seasons, including a career-high 18 as a junior … helped her team to four sectional championships, four regional titles and a state runner-up finish as a senior … played club soccer for Cincinnati Tri-State Futbol Alliance (TFA Elite), coached by Chris Slusher … helped her team to the semifinals of the State Cup in 2013 and 2014 … member of the Olympic Development Program state and regional pool in 2012 and 2013 … also a four-year letterwinner in basketball at Lawrenceburg … lettered two years in tennis and one each in softball and track.

Personal: Full name is Josie Gabrielle Denton … born Sept. 24, 1998 in Edgewood, Kentucky … daughter of Deron and Tonda Denton … has one brother, Seth … father played club rugby at Ball State from 1989-93 … intends to major in human resources.

Greer Glover, Forward
Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS

High School/Club: Played club soccer for FC Pride (2016-17), coached by Mike Beckner, and Zionsville Youth Soccer Association (2013-16), coached by Beckner and McKinley Jones … helped her team to State Cup runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2014 … her 2015 team won the President's Cup, and her 2016 team was ranked No. 1 in Indiana and No. 15 in the region … member of the Olympic Development Program for Region II in 2015 and 2016 … played only one year of high school soccer, coached by Carla Baker, helping Carmel to a state runner-up finish as a sophomore in 2014.

Personal: Full name is Greer Tate Glover … born April 14, 1999 in Columbia, Missouri … daughter of Todd and Stacy Glover … has one sister, Rowan, and one brother, Hollis … intends to major in business.

Shelby Kean, Defender/Midfielder
Weston, Fla./Saint Thomas Aquinas HS

High School/Club: Plays for coach Carlos Giron at Saint Thomas Aquinas, where she is currently competing in her senior season … helped her team to a 21-1 record last year as a junior … plays club soccer for Lauderhill Lions FC, coached by Phil Zayas.

Personal: Full name is Shelby Drew Kean … born April 8, 1999 in Weston, Florida … daughter of Michael and Lori Kean … has two brothers, Brett and Scott … brother Brett plays football at South Florida … uncle Marc Brody played baseball at Hofstra … intends to major in sports management.

Quoting Coach Roberts: "Shelby is a hard-nosed defender/midfielder. She is an intelligent player who reads the game exceptionally well. She is a tremendous ball-winner, whether it be in the air or on the ground. I believe Shelby has the attitude needed in order to compete for playing time."

Madison Lockard, Goalkeeper
Oswego, Ill./Oswego HS

High School/Club: Has lettered three years at Oswego for coach Kelsey Champion and is preparing for her senior season this spring … has recorded 228 saves through her first three seasons, including 83 as a junior … plays club soccer for Team Chicago and coach Dave Lovercheck … her 2016 team won the Illinois State Cup championship and played in the national championships … won the MRL Premier I championship in 2015 and 2016 … member of the Olympic Development Program state team for Illinois in 2013 and 2014 … also lettered two years in basketball at Oswego.

Personal: Full name is Madison Lee Lockard … born April 13, 1999 in Hinsdale, Illinois … daughter of Jeffrey and Cheryl Lockard … has two brothers, Tyler and Dylan … intends to major in speech pathology.

Quoting Coach Roberts: "Madison is a very confident goalkeeper who will be ready to compete with the high-level goalkeepers we already have at Ball State. She is an excellent communicator with strong technical ability. She has good length in her distribution, which will be key in starting many attacks."

Ali Martin, Defender/Midfielder
Medina, Ohio/Medina HS

High School/Club: Played for Cleveland Futbol Club, coached by Benny Dargle … served as team captain in 2015 and 2016 … helped her team to four State Cup championships … her team won the Midwest Regional League championship in 2015 and was ranked 20th nationally … team participated in the National League in 2015 and 2016 … did not play high school soccer.

Personal: Full name is Allison Anne Martin … born Feb. 28, 1999 in Middleburg Heights, Ohio … daughter of Robert and Rebecca Martin … has one sister, Emilee … intends to study to be a physician assistant.

Juliana Rotolo, Midfielder/Forward
Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson HS

High School/Club: Lettered four years for coach Alyx Portier at Bishop Watterson … accumulated 53 goals and 62 assists for her career … selected to the all-state second team her final two years and the third team as a sophomore … a four-time all-conference choice … recorded double-digit goals and assists in each of her seasons, including career highs of 16 goals and 19 assists as a junior … plays club soccer for Ohio Premier and coach Chris King … undefeated and nationally ranked this season … owns 32 goals and 41 assists over five years with the club … also lettered two years in track at Bishop Watterson.

Personal: Full name is Juliana Marie Rotolo … born Oct. 8, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio … daughter of Dominic and Robin Rotolo … has two sisters, Olivia and Gabriela … intends to major in journalism.

Amanda Shaw, Midfielder/Forward
Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS/Missouri

Previous College: Spent two seasons playing in the SEC for Missouri … saw action in 18 games … recorded one goal and two assists as a sophomore.

High School/Club: Played at Carmel for coach Frank Dixon … first-team all-state and all-conference as a senior when she had 11 goals and five assists … helped Carmel to a state championship in 2011 and a state runner-up finish in 2015 … team won four consecutive conference championships … played club soccer for Indy Fire Soccer Club and coach Eric Nance … also an all-state selection in basketball at Carmel.

Personal: Full name is Amanda Marie Shaw … born Aug. 7, 1996 in Carmel, Indiana … daughter of Gordon and Elaine Shaw … has one brother, Jason.

Quoting Coach Roberts: "Amanda is a physically strong forward who has the ability to play with her back to goal and introduce players from underneath. Although she is a tremendous link-up player, she is also a threat on the turn. Amanda is an experienced, intelligent player who I anticipate will have an immediate impact not only for Ball State but within the conference. In addition, it is great to have her back in Indiana."

Evie Stepaniak, Forward/Midfielder
Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota West HS/Cincinnati State

Previous College: Played two years for coach Wil Cagle at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College … registered 19 goals and 10 assists last year as a sophomore … a first-team all-region selection … helped her team to consecutive regional runner-up finishes.

High School/Club: Four-year letterwinner for coach Jan Bennett at Lakota West, the same school that produced former Ball State standout Brigit Reder … an all-conference and all-city selection … scored 12 goals as a senior … played club soccer for FOCA and coach Kurt Fischer … helped her team to three State Cup finals appearances.

Personal: Full name is Elizabeth Evie Stepaniak … born Aug. 22, 1997 in Fairfield, Ohio … daughter of Isaac and Detra Stepaniak … has two brothers, Eli and Enoch, and two sisters, Eden and Eliana … intends to major in social work.

Quoting Coach Roberts: "Evie has tremendous athleticism. She has a strong desire to take players on and is excellent in 1v1 situations. Her maturity and confidence will bring an increased level of energy to the Ball State midfield."

Molly Van Horn, Forward
Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Bishop Hartley HS

High School/Club: Finished her career at Bishop Hartley, where she played for coach Scott Dempsey … a first-team all-district selection as a senior when she recorded 22 goals and 15 assists … helped her team reach the finals of the district tournament in back-to-back seasons … began her career at Reynoldsburg High School, where she was the team's leading scorer and an all-conference and all-district selection … played club soccer for Westerville United and coach Don Vargo … helped her team to consecutive BPL Elite League championships in 2013-14 and 2014-15, setting a club record with 24 goals in the first of those runs … named her team's MVP.

Personal: Full name is Molly Mary Van Horn … born Dec. 1, 1998 in Westerville, Ohio … daughter of Rich and Lori Van Horn … has one brother, Zach, and three sisters, Paige, Karah and Lyndy … father played basketball at Muskingum University … intends to major in criminology or political science.

Ana Vera, Defender
Madrid, Spain/IES Alto Jarama

Club: Played for Dinamo Guadalajara and coach Alberto Mendoza … won a regional championship in 2013 and was her team's top scorer … selected to the Castilla la-Mancha Under 18 regional team … also a successful track athlete.

Personal: Full name is Ana Vera Vazquez … born Jan. 21, 1999 in Madrid, Spain … daughter of Francisco Vera Guerrero and Maria Elena Vazquez Gallo … has one sister, Cristina, and one brother, Alberto.

Quoting Coach Roberts: "Ana is a versatile defender with excellent speed and technical ability. She is a very attack-minded defender who loves to get forward. She has played at a high level in Spain and will draw on this experience to strengthen the Ball State back line."
