LIVE SCORING
The Ball State men's golf team will host the sixth annual Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play this week at Lake Jovita Country Club in Dade City, Florida.
The Cardinals' first event of the spring season begins Monday at 8 a.m. on Lake Jovita's South Course. The first two rounds will be played Monday, and the final round will be played Tuesday.
Ball State is the No. 3 seed, based on Golfstat rankings, and will square off with No. 6 seed Ohio in the opening round. The other match in the Cardinals' half of the bracket features No. 2 seed Notre Dame against No. 7 seed DePaul.
The first-round matchups on the other side of the draw feature No. 1 seed Eastern Michigan against No. 8 seed Miami University and No. 4 seed Seton Hall versus No. 5 seed Toledo.
Every team will play three matches over the two days. Winners will advance in the championship bracket, while losing teams will continue competition in the consolation bracket.
Each team match will consist of six individual matches. Team lineups are also based upon current rankings. Johnny Watts occupies the No. 1 spot for Ball State, followed by Michael VanDeventer, Michael Makris, Timothy Wiseman, Keegan McKinney and Quentyn Carpenter.
Ball State is a two-time champion of the event, having won in 2012 and 2014. Eastern Michigan has also won twice and is the defending champion.
Formerly known as the Mid-American Match Play, the event was renamed in 2015 in honor of former Ball State men's golf coach Earl Yestingsmeier, who passed away in January 2014.
