
Men's Tennis Wraps Up Play At Old Gold & Black Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Old Gold  & Black Invite with the final round Sunday at the Basham Courts at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
On the final day of competition, Ball State went 3-3 in doubles matches, taking on Purdue, IUPUI and Butler. Luke Wiese paired up with Khamasi Muhiga and took an 8-6 win over host Purdue's twosome of Ali Mooraj and Renan Hanayama. The duo also captured an 8-6 defeat over IUPUI's Eric Hollingsworth and Grant Weaver. The Cardinals' doubles tandem of Tom Carney and Collin Rigney rounded out the victories for the day, after defeating the Jaguars Kyle Whittaker and Grant Esposito, 8-6.Â
The Cardinals earned three singles victories this weekend. Rigney registered a 6-3, 7-5 win over Butler's Addison Cazier and then went on to beat IUPUI's Weaver also in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Carney wrapped up the singles victories for Ball State with his 7-5, 6-4 win over the Jaguars Eric Hollingsworth.
The Ball State men's tennis team will end fall play next weekend at the Mid-American Conference Indoor which will be hosted by Western Michigan in Kalamazoo.
