Cross Country Set for Friday's Bradley Pink Classic

MUNCIE, Ind. - - After a week off of competition to focus on training, the Ball State cross country team returns to action Friday in the 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. CT) 6K Women's Red Race of the Bradley Pink Classic held at the Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill.
In the team's final tune-up before the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships, the Cardinals will be one of 31 teams entered in Friday's race which also features Toledo and Northern Illinois out of the MAC.
Looking to lead the Cardinals to the finish line for the third consecutive race will be sophomore Hannah Cummings who was Ball State's top finisher at both the 6K RedHawk Rumble (Sept. 23) and the 5K Greater Louisville Classic (Sept. 30).
Overall, nine Cardinals are set to lace up their running shoes at the event, including the team's three other race leaders in freshman Cayla Eckenroth (Sept 1 - 5K Butler Twilight), sophomore Maritza Rodriguez (Sept. 8 - 5K Illinois State University Country Financial Invitational) and senior Jordan Timmons (Sept. 15 - 6K Indiana Intercollegiate Championships).
Also competing for the Cardinals Friday are senior Jessica Bryzek, redshirt sophomore Stephanie McElhaney, sophomore Meliza Rodriguez, sophomore Brooke Talhelm and freshman Emmalyne Tarsa.
This will be the second straight season Ball State has competed at the Bradley Pink Classic, as the Cardinals finished 21st among the 31-team field last season. All eight Ball State runners finished the 2016 race with career-best 6K efforts.
