Women’s Swimming and Diving Takes Down IUPUI and Xavier

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ball State women's swimming and diving team defeated both IUPUI and Xavier Friday night in the first meet since early December. The Cardinals defeated IUPUI with a final score of 149.00 to 94.00. Xavier fell to Ball State with a score of 170.00 to 67.00.

The women's swimming and diving team will return to action Friday, Jan. 20, against Indiana State and Eastern Illinois. The meet, which will be in Terre Haute, Ind., is set to begin at 7 p.m.

Below are the top performances of the day:
- The Cardinals had the first and fifth place finishes in the 200 medley relay with times of 1:46.16 and 1:52.57.
- Ball State also had the third and fifth place finishes in the 400 freestyle relay.
- Freshman Cassidy Blackwin finished second in the 1000 freestyle with a final time of 10:42.49. Blackwin also earned a third place finish in the 500 freestyle at 5:15.79.
- Freshman Elizabeth Graham's time of 10:53.37 placed her in fifth place in the 1000 freestyle. Graham also had a fifth place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:18.55).
- Senior Kimberly Scott earned a sixth place finish with a time of 11:00.59 in the 1000 freestyle and a fifth place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.47.
- Junior Amanda Kedzierski placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.40) and had a time of 1:57.25 in the 200 freestyle, earning her a third place finish.
- Sophomore Lauren Elston placed seventh in the 200 freestyle with a final time of 1:59.07 and placed fourth in the 100 freestyle at 54.99.
- Junior Morgan Brebberman touched the wall at 1:59.20 earning her an eighth place finish in the 200 freestyle. Brebberman's time of 5:20.40 in the 500 freestyle placed her in sixth.
- Senior Jessica Extine had a first place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.01. Extine also had a third place finish in the 100 freestyle at 54.13.
- Freshman Peighton Gilbert earned a first place finish in the 100 freestyle (53.63) and a second place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.11).
- Freshman Anne Vormohr had a first place finish in the 100 backstroke with a final time of 58.07. Vormohr had a final time of 24.59 in the 50 freestyle, finishing in fifth place.
- Freshman Sophie Bader's time of 2:11.77 in the 200 IM earned her a first place finish. Bader also placed third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.02.
- Senior Courtney Mudd placed second in the 200 IM after touching the wall at 2:11.95 and fourth in the 100 backstroke at 59.59.
- Junior Andrea Richter had a first place finish in the 100 butterfly at 57.57.
- Senior Katie Horn earned a fourth place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.06.
- Senior Allie Kolz placed eighth in the 100 backstroke at 1:01.21.
- Sophomore Maryn Meldrum touched the wall at 1:09.95 in the 100 breaststroke earning a third place finish.
- Sophomore Mason Dahman finished in fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:10.00.
The women's swimming and diving team will return to action Friday, Jan. 20, against Indiana State and Eastern Illinois. The meet, which will be in Terre Haute, Ind., is set to begin at 7 p.m.
