Field Hockey Places Seven on Academic All-MAC

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2016 Academic All-MAC Team and seven Cardinals made the list.
The Academic All-MAC honors students who excel on the field and in the classroom. In order for a student-athlete to be eligible for the Academic All-MAC team, they must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and compete in at least 50 percent of the games during the season.
Senior Bryce Barnes, senior Mikayla Mooney and red-shirt junior Merinda Morley received the honor for the third straight year. Juniors Carley Shannon and Abbey Main earned a spot for the second straight year. Sophomore Anya Eicher and red-shirt freshman Michelle Shampton were both first time honorees.
The Ball State field hockey team finished the 2016 regular season with an 8-11 record, 3-3 in the MAC. The Cardinals also made the trip to the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2011.
