Mike Neu Press Conference - Western Michigan Week
October 25, 2016 | Football
Looking back at the Akron game …
"It was a tale of two halves. We controlled the clock 20 minutes to their 10 minutes, but then the script was flipped there in the second half … On both sides of the ball there were opportunities to make plays, and I tell our guys over and over when we watch the tape, when the opportunity presents itself, you have to make the play. We have a small margin of error."
On the play of quarterback Riley Neal …
"I thought he made quick decisions in the first half. He got the ball off in time. He wasn't willing to take the check down in flats … I thought his decision making was much quicker in previous weeks."
On facing an undefeated and nationally-ranked Western Michigan squad next week …
"If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best, and they are the best in our conference. They're 8-0. It's great to have that challenge here at Scheumann Stadium. We look forward to that … The best medicine for me was having the opportunity to watch Ohio State and Penn State on Saturday night and know that we're facing a similar situation. We've got Western Michigan coming in and they're going to be favored but we have an opportunity to have one of those moments."
Thoughts on Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis …
"Polished man, he is polished. It's easy to see why he's one of the best when you look at him. Not only is he a great combination of size and speed, but he is an exceptional route runner. He's got a knack for getting open. He understands coverage. He's a very polished receiver and he's got a very bright future ahead of him."
