One of the most decorated athletes in Ball State Track & Field history, Kenli Nettles knows the definition of success. A three-time MAC champion in the pentathlon and heptathlon, Nettles ranks second all-time for the program in both the 400-meter hurdles—with six of the top-10 times—and the heptathlon, and third all-time for the program in the pentathlon.
A 2026 graduate of Ball State with a master's degree in Athletic Coaching Education, Nettles now serves as the director of external operations for Ball State Track & Field and Cross Country. She also serves as an assistant coach for the team. Despite this being her first collegiate coaching job, Nettles already boasts four years of youth and private coaching experience, working with athletes ages 7–18.
The 2026 2nd-Team All-American says that her passion for coaching comes from her own experiences as an athlete, also stating that she wants "to help athletes build confidence, reach their goals and develop both on and off the track."
Nettles also holds a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sport & Tourism (Sports Management) from University of Illinois, where she also was a part of the Track & Field team before medically retiring. She came out of medical retirement upon transferring to Ball State.
