Mary Carmody is a graduate assistant for the Ball State University women's golf team after completing a four-year career as a golfer at Longwood University.
Carmody earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science?from Longwood in the spring of 2009, and interned in the summer of 2008 with Jeff Handler, a strength and conditioning specialist for PGA Tour players, including Mike Weir.
She posted five top-10 finishes for Longwood as a senior, including second place showings at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate, the Spider Fall Invitational and the Tina Barrett Invitational.? Carmody posted a 77.0 average as a senior and a career-best 76.86 mark as a junior.
A 2008-09 National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar, Carmody was the 2007 Syracuse Women's District Golf Association Champion, the 2006 New York State Golf Association Women's Amateur semifinalist and the 2004 Central New York Player of the Year.
Carmody served as a junior golf instructor in 2005-06, and volunteered at various youth golf events for the last four years.
Carmody played three years of golf at Cortland High School in Cortland, N.Y., and was selected her team's Most Valuable Player as a senior.? She also competed four seasons in basketball and field hockey and was team MVP, team captain and all-league in field hockey as a senior.
