Kelsey Corbin begins her second season as an assistant coach for the Ball State University women's basketball team. Prior to her becoming a coach, Corbin served as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations at Ball State for the last three seasons (2007-2010).
"Kelsey has a great future as a collegiate coach, and she has earned this opportunity to step into her on-floor coaching role here at Ball State," said Packard. "Kelsey has a pure testimony which is invaluable to our program in the recruiting realm---she chose Ball State as her collegiate home. Her passion, loyalty, and belief in the direction of our program are visible on a daily basis."
Corbin a four-year standout for the Cardinals from 2003-07 finished her career with Ball State as the first player in program history to score 1,000 career points, grab 400 career rebounds and dish out 400 career assists. She also finished her career ranked fifth all-time in games played (117) and fourth all-time in assists (435).
Corbin, a three-time team captain, helped guide the Cardinals to 70 victories during her career. She helped BSU take home the Mid-American Conference West Division title in her senior season as the Cardinals posted a 24-7 overall record and advanced to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).
"I have learned a great deal during my time at Ball State and I feel truly blessed to start my collegiate coaching career under Coach Packard," said Corbin. "For two years now, I have witnessed Kelly's passion and commitment to lead young women in a healthy environment. I genuinely believe in the foundations of this program and the opportunity to join Kelly in her efforts, especially at my alma mater, is an honor."
