Tyler Ostrom, a four-year letterwinner for the Ball State men’s golf team, became a graduate assistant coach for the program in August 2016. He enters his second season in that role in 2017-18.
Ostrom helped guide Ball State during a 2016-17 season that saw the Cardinals win the Pinehurst Intercollegiate and finish runner-up at the MAC Championships. It was the program's best result at the league tournament since 2011.
A native of Warsaw, Indiana, Ostrom graduated from Ball State in May 2016 with a degree in finance and accounting. As a player, he was co-medalist at the Butler Spring Invitational as a sophomore and finished runner-up at Toledo’s Rocket Individual Classic as a senior.
Ostrom was heavily involved with Ball State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and attended the Mid-American Conference Leadership Symposium as a senior. He was honored by the men’s golf program with the Earl Yestingsmeier Student-Athlete Award in his final season.
Ostrom was a standout golfer at Warsaw High School, where he was a three-time all-state selection. He won the 2011 Indiana state championship, setting the tournament record for lowest round with a 63.
