Hired in December of 2024, T.J. Greenstone is the head strength and conditioning coach of the Ball State football program.
Greenstone joined the Cardinals following seven seasons at Butler University, where he managed strength and conditioning duties for football and men's soccer since September 2018. Over the course of his career, he has aided in the development of 99 conference postseason award winners, six All-Americans, two team conference championships, one coach of the year, two MLB draft picks, two NFL draft picks, two MLS draft picks and an Olympic Trials participant.
Prior to his time at Butler, Greenstone served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Southern Mississippi. Before his time at Southern Miss., Greenstone served as the coordinator of strength and conditioning at Tennessee State University where he directly oversaw the development of 15 athletic programs. Before TSU, he spent time at Georgia Tech and the University of Evansville.
Greenstone graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was a football student-athlete as a defensive tackle. He was named a team captain in 2010. He was a member of the Freshman All-SEC Team, and a second-team Freshman All-American in 2008. He was recognized as the Vanderbilt football lifter of the year and the defensive scout MVP as a true freshman in 2007.
After his time at Vanderbilt, Greenstone began competing in the sport of weightlifting eventually winning the U.S. men's national weightlifting title in his weight class in 2019.
At Vanderbilt, Greenstone received his bachelor of science in human and organizational development. He also earned his master of arts in exercise science and physical wellness from Tennessee Tech in 2017. Currently working on an MBA through Butler University, he is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, has attained his USA Weightlifting Level 2 certification, and is a national coach’s education instructor for USA Weightlifting.
Greenstone and his wife, Jenny, have four children: Jackson, Nolan, Easton and Blakely.
