2022 (COVID-Sr.): Earned third letter at Ball State … played in 43 games, earning 37 starts … made 23 starts at catcher and 14 as the designated player … ranked sixth on the team with a .267 batting average, including six doubles and five home runs … added eight walks and was hit by a pitch seven times for a .355 on base percentage … ranked third on the team with 30 RBI, while scoring eight runs … had three game-winning RBI on the year … her first home run and RBI of the season came in the 7-6 win over Western Carolina (Feb. 19) … blasted a two-run homer in Ball State’s 5-1 win at Grand Canyon (March 12) … drove in the game-winning run the hard way in the 4-1 victory over Kent State (April 1), being hit by a pitch with bases loaded … opened the series at Northern Illinoi (April 5) with an RBI walk in the 13-3 (5) victory … drove in a season-high four RBI in the 11-0 (5) victory over the Huskies the next day, including a three-run double in the second and a solo home run in the fourth … also blasted three-run home runs in the series opener at Buffalo (April 23), and to drive in the game-winning run in the 7-2 victory over Bowling Green (April 29) … led the Ball State defense with a .987 fielding percentage, including 132 putouts, 16 assists, and two errors … also threw out two runners trying to steal and had a hand in one double play … was the starting catcher for the first perfect game in program history, a 5-0 victory over Western Michigan (April 20) which included 10 strikeouts by freshman pitcher Angelina Russo.
2021 (Sr.): Earned second letter at Ball State … played in 39 games, earning 37 starts … made 23 starts as the designated player and 14 as catcher … ranked fifth on the team with a .363 batting average, including nine doubles and four home runs … also drew 11 walks and was hit by a pitch a team-leading seven times for a .458 on base percentage … ranked third on the squad with a .569 slugging percentage … scored 18 runs and tallied 22 RBI … three game-winning RBI and two game-winning runs scored … registered her first home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth inning, in the series opener versus Bowling green (March 26) to drive herself in for what proved to be the game-winning run … also doubled and scored another run in the contest … went 3-for-3 and was hit by a pitch in the series finale versus the Falcons (March 28), helping lead the squad to a 9-5 victory … smashed a three-run home run in the first inning of the 13-10 win at Central Michigan (April 3), while adding a RBI groundout in the top of the fourth to drive in what proved to be the game-winning run … also tallied four RBI in the 7-2 win at Kent State (April 9), going 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the second and a three-run blast in the fifth … scored the game-winning run in the 4-2 victory at Miami (April 20), after drawing an eight-pitch walk … went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a walk in the 8-5 win at Western Michigan … drove in the game-winning run with a fifth-inning RBI single in the series-opening 6-3 victory at Buffalo (May 14) … closed the season with a double and four RBI in the 11-8 win against the Bulls (May 16) … led the Ball State defense with a .991 fielding percentage, including 106 putouts, 10 assists, and only one error … threw out six runners trying to steal a base.
2020 (Jr.): The season was shortened to 27 games due to the COVID-19 global pandemic … earned first letter at Ball State … played in 22 games, earning 20 starts … made 14 starts as catcher, four as the designated player, one at first base and one in right field … ranked fifth on the team with a .298 batting average, including seven doubles and a home run … also drew six walks and was hit by a pitch eight times for a .444 on base percentage … the eight times being hit by a pitch led all Mid-American Conference players … scored eight runs and drove in eight RBI on the year … recorded her first career hit for the Cardinals in the win over Prairie View-A&M (Feb. 8) with an infield single … followed with her first Ball State double and RBI in the win versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Feb. 9) … registered a pair of hits in each game of the doubleheader at North Florida (Feb. 15), including a double in each game and her first Ball State runs scored in the nightcap victory … went 2-for-2 with a double and her first Ball State home run against Alabama A&M (Feb. 16) … her home run was a two-run blast in the second inning, while her double was a fifth-inning RBI double to give her a season-high three RBI in the game … scored the eventual game-winning run at Indiana State (Feb. 21), after reaching base with an RBI double … drove in what proved to be the game-winning RBI with a two-run single up the middle versus Drexel (Feb. 28) … had a hand in turning three of the team’s 14 double plays … finished the shortened season with 100 putouts and 17 assists, while committing five errors for a .959 fielding percentage.
LAKE LAND COLLEGE - 2019 (So.): Earned second letter at Lake Land College ... played in 58 games, earning 52 starts ... helped guide the Lakers to a 50-19 overall record, a Region 24 Championship and a berth in the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship ... finished the season ranked second on the team with a .483 batting average and led the squad with a .739 slugging percentage ... tied for 14th among all NJCAA Division I players with 23 doubles, while also tallying four triples and five home runs ... credited with 53 RBI and 52 runs scored ... also drew nine walks and was hit by a pitch 14 times for a .534 on base percentage ... swiped 12 bases ... registered multiple hits in 29 games, including a pair of four-hit contests ... recorded multiple RBI in 14 games ... hit her first home run of the season as part of a 3-for-4 effort in a 7-6 win at Louisburg (Feb. 14) ... her second homer came in the series finale at Louisburg (Feb. 15) ... went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored in an 11-4 win over Wabash Valley (March 16) ... went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored in a 17-2 win at Lincoln Trail (April 29) ... collected her fourth home run of the season in a 6-4 win over Olney Central (April 30), in which she went 3-for-3 and added a double, while scoring twice and collecting one RBI ... went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in a 13-2 victory at Wabash Valley (May 14) ... tagged her fifth home run of the season versus No. 11 Chattanooga State in the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship ... finished the season with 99 putouts and 31 assists on defense, while having a hand in one double play.
LAKE LAND COLLEGE - 2018 (Fr.): Earned first letter at Lake Land College ... played in 65 games, earning 63 starts ... helped guide the Lakers to a 48-18 overall record, a Region 24 Championship and a berth in the NJCAA Division I Softball Championship ... finished the season ranked third on the team with a .424 batting average ... tied for fifth among all NJCAA Division I players with 25 doubles, while also collecting a triple and eight home runs for a .682 slugging percentage ... credited with 68 RBI and 65 runs scored ... also drew nine walks and was hit by a pitch 14 times for a .478 on base percentage ... swiped nine bases ... registered multiple hits in 25 games, including one four-hit contest ... recorded multiple RBI in 20 games ... credited with her first collegiate hit versus Northwest Florida State (Feb. 3) ... registered her first two-hit game in a 3-0 win at Georgia Military (Feb. 16), and also tallied her first career double and a pair of RBI ... drove in three runs in a 7-3 victory versus Tallahassee (Feb. 17) ... credited with her first four RBI game in an 11-0 win at Cleveland State (Feb. 23) … recorded her first three-hit game, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and three runs scored in a 12-4 win over John A. Logan (March 6) … smashed her first career home run, drove in five RBI and went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in a 25-11 win in the first game of a doubleheader at Southeastern Illinois (March 7) … followed with a 3-for-5 effort, adding a pair of doubles, three more RBI and three more runs scored in the nightcap at Southeastern Illinois, which was a 21-4 win … credited with four RBI in a 10-0 win over Lincoln Trail in the first game of a March 12 doubleheader … went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and a run scored in the nightcap, a 10-1 victory … blasted home runs in both ends of a doubleheader at Frontier (March 13) and made it three consecutive games with a homer in the opener at Crowder (March 15) … her fifth home run of the season came in a 20-0 win over Shawnee (April 5) … she also blasted homers in the second game at Indian Hills (April 10), the second game versus Southeastern Illinois (April 27) and in the championship game of the Region 24 Tournament vs. Wabash Valley (May 5) … finished the season with 58 putouts and 97 assists on defense, while having a hand in five double plays.
HIGH SCHOOL: Johnson was a four-year varsity letter recipient at Streator Township in Streator, Illinois…she earned three First Team All-Conference awards as well as the Slugger Award, MVP, and Golden Glove her senior season…she helped lead her team to Regional Champions her junior season and to the Sweet Sixteen her senior season…also earned four varsity letters in volleyball and two varsity letters in basketball.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Shannon and Darin Johnson ... has three sisters, Sadie, Madison and Brynn ... maintains a 3.533 grade-point average as an applied behavior analysis major.
WHY BALL STATE: I chose Ball State because the atmosphere is something I have never seen before and want to be a part of. Everyone here was so welcoming!
