IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Ball State field hockey team (2-2) wrapped up a highly competitive weekend in Iowa City today, facing off against the 4th-ranked University of Iowa Hawkeyes (4-0) at Grant Field.

Coming off an exhilarating, high-powered 5-4 victory over Lehigh University just 24 hours prior, the Cardinals stepped onto the turf ready to battle one of the top programs in the country. While the offensive firepower of the host Hawkeyes ultimately led to an 8-0 decision for Iowa, the match provided Ball State with crucial developmental reps and a true benchmark of championship-level execution.

The Cardinals split their weekend in Iowa City 1-1, leaving the state with immense confidence after proving they can ignite an explosive, multi-goal attack during Saturday's thrilling win.

Lauren Lewis, who had two goals in Saturday's victory over Lehigh, managed the lone shot for the Cardinals along with three defensive saves while behind the cage goalkeeper Carleigh Hofelich recorded seven saves versus the Hawkeyes.

The Ball State field hockey team will resume action next Sunday at 11:00 AM ET at the Briner Sports Complex against Big Ten foe Indiana. The Cardinals will also welcome back their alumni that contest.
