DAYTON, Ohio – The Ball State soccer team fell to Dayton 1-0 on Sunday night after a late Flyers goal in the second half.

The Cardinals (3-3-1) generated a shot on goal by Jordyn Klaasen in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net. The Flyers (3-5) scored on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to post the winning decision.

Along with Klaasen, four others registered a shot for Ball State in the contest. LG Moncrief and Grier Isaacson each logged two in the contest.

Goalkeeper Kate Pallante made five saves for Ball State, while Ainsley Schaufele and Isaacson were other Cardinals to play the full 90 minutes.

The hosts outshot the Cardinals 14-8 and led in shots on goal (7-1), while Ball State was whistled for more fouls (14-11).

The Cardinals will return home for their first conference matchup against UMass on Thursday at 4 p.m.
