April 29, 2026 | Men's Basketball
The Ball State men's basketball team and head coach Chris Capko have announced the addition of Western Michigan transfer Trey Lewis to the program.
The 6-foot-6 guard out of Ferndale, Mich., will be a redshirt senior as he joins the team ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Lewis played in 31 games, including 11 starts, and averaged 7.7 points and 2.6 rebounds in 17.6 minutes per game during the 2025-26 campaign. He shot 41.8 percent (81-194) from the field, 38.5 percent (52-135) on 3-pointers and 74.3 percent (26-35) at the foul line and scored in double figures in 12 games including a season-best at Texas State on Feb. 7.
As a redshirt sophomore at Purdue Fort Wayne in 2024-25, Lewis played in all 32 games and averaged 4.7 points in 10.4 minutes per game for the Mastodons while shooting 46.2 percent (54-117) on field goals and 38.0 percent (27-71) from distance.
Lewis began his collegiate career at Loyola Chicago, where he redshirted the 2022-23 season before playing in 10 games as a redshirt freshman for the Ramblers.
Lewis was a finalist for Michigan Mr. Basketball and was the top recruit in his class in the state according to 247Sports.
This is Ball State's fifth incoming transfer of the month after K'Jei Parker (UMass), Aaron Fine (Purdue), Javion Guy-King (Central Arkansas) and Jaden Smith (Saint Joseph's) signed with the team earlier.
