Ball State Women’s Tennis Returns Home to Host UMass in MAC Matchup
March 21, 2026 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. — The Ball State women's tennis team (7-5, 0-1 MAC) returns to the Foster Adams Tennis Complex and Bill Richards Tennis Courts this Sunday, March 22, to host the University of Massachusetts (11-3, 3-0 MAC) at 11 a.m. ET. The Cardinals are looking to capture their first conference victory of the season and bounce back from a road loss in their Mid-American Conference opener.
Ball State enters Sunday's contest following a hard-fought road stretch, most recently dropping its MAC opener 6-1 at Buffalo on March 13. Despite the recent setback, the Cardinals have been formidable at home this spring, including a dominant 6-1 victory over Cleveland State.
The Cardinals' success continues to be anchored by their top doubles tandem, Sarah Shahbaz and Isabel Tanjuatco. The duo has been a consistent force at the No. 1 position. In singles play, the Cardinals have seen strong contributions from Alana Bristow and Gabriella Barrera, both of whom have delivered clutch performances in recent weeks.
UMass travels to Muncie with momentum after earning a 4-3 victory over Miami (OH) on March 20. The Minutewomen have been led at the top of the lineup by Ella Faessler and Martina Pavissich, who recently clinched match points in several tight contests.
Following Sunday's match, the Cardinals will remain in MAC play as they head back on the road to face Bowling Green on Friday, March 27, at 1 p.m.
