Machado Awarded MIVA Defensive Player of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. – After helping the Ball State men's volleyball team extend its win streak to five with sweeps over Maryland Eastern Shore (Jan. 30) and George Mason (Jan. 31), setter Lucas Machado was named the Midwestern Volleyball Association Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning. Machado earns the first weekly honor of his career.
The 2026 Preseason All-MIVA member totaled nine digs and six blocks this past weekend, tying a team-best five digs with three blocks against the Hawks and recording four digs with three blocks against the Patriots.
The Cardinals open conference action this week with back-to-back contests versus Queens Feb. 5 and Feb. 6 inside Worthen Arena. Both matches are slated to begin at 7 p.m ET and will be available on ESPN+.
