Cardinals Head West for Spring Break Action at Pacific Coast Doubles Championship
February 25, 2026 | Men's Tennis
LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Ball State men's tennis team kicks off its annual spring break trip this week, traveling to Southern California to compete in the 137th Annual Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.
In addition to the prestigious double's tournament, the Cardinals will face off against Pacific and Villanova in two non-conference dual matches.
The Cardinals (4-5) arrive in La Jolla looking to bounce back after a tough road stretch.
We are excited for our Spring Break Training Camp and playing outdoor tennis in La Jolla California.
"We begin the trip playing a very good University Pacific team," Ball State head men's tennis coach Gene Orlando said. "We will have to quickly make the adjustment to outdoor tennis and no better way to do that than competing under fire. The PAC Coast Doubles tournament begins Thursday and runs thru Sunday and is always a top-level tournament attracting great teams from the west coast. We finish our training camp against Villanova and head home to begin conference play."
One of the five oldest tennis events in the world, the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship features a unique field of top NCAA programs alongside independent pros and former tour players. Ball State joins a 2026 field that includes powerhouse programs such as USC, UCLA, and Pepperdine.
The Tigers (4-4) and Cardinals last met two seasons ago in La Jolla, where Pacific earned a 6-1 victory while the Cardinals defeated Villanova just a year ago in March in California by a 5-2 decision. The Wildcats enter this week's competition with a 3-4 record so far this season.
