Gallagher & Langerak Tied for Ninth at Rio Verde Collegiate

RIO VERDE, Arizona - - Seniors Sarah Gallagher and Sabrina Langerak fired rounds of +2 (74) for the second consecutive day and are tied for ninth overall among the 95-golfer field with scores of +4 (148) after two rounds at the Rio Verde Collegiate hosted by Western Michigan.
Gallagher's second tour of the White Wing Course at the Rio Verde Country club was highlighted by four birdies, raising her tournament total to a team-high six. In addition, she finished the front nine at -1 (35), which is the lowest nine for a Ball State golfer so far this weekend.
Like Friday's opening round on the 72-par, 6,001-yard trek, Langerak shot 37 on both nines Saturday, adding two more birdies and 12 more pars to her total.
Junior JJ Gregston also turned in another solid round, finishing the day at +4 (76) to enter tomorrow's final round in 24th place at +6 (150). The highlight of Gregston's round came on the par-5, 470-yard ninth when she drained Ball State's first eagle of the spring.
The Cardinals also counted a +5 (77) from senior Jasmine Driscoll Saturday, which helped the squad finish the day at +13 (301). Overall, Ball State is fifth among the 19-team field with a score of +23 (599).
Xavier currently leads the event at +9 (585), followed by Bradley (+15; 591), Bowling Green (+19; 595) and Wichita State (+21; 597).
Driscoll collected her fourth birdie of the weekend on the par-5, 495-yard 14th. She is currently tied for 66th among the field at +13 (157).
The second day of competition also saw sophomore Sophie Korthuijs come in at +7 (79) and individual Jenna Estravillo shoot +6 (78). Korthuijs is 54th overall at +11 (155), while Estravillo is tied for 66th with Driscoll at +13 (157).
Aided by five birdies on the course's four par-5s Saturday, the Cardinals are currently second among the field with a par-5 average of 4.89 (-4).
The Ball State women's golf team closes competition in the Rio Verde Collegiate Sunday with a 10:30 a.m. ET / 8:30 a.m. MT shotgun start. The Cardinals will be starting on holes 4-7, while Estravillo will once again open on the 18th tee.
