February 17, 2026 | Women's Tennis
The Ball State women's tennis team (3-2) continues its non-conference road swing this Wednesday, Feb. 18, with a 1:00 p.m. ET match against the University of Cincinnati (4-1) at the Western Athletic Club.
The Cardinals enter the contest with momentum following a 5-2 victory over Dayton last Saturday. In that match, sophomore Isabelle Tanjuatco clinched the deciding point at No. 4 singles, while Gabby Barrera and Sarah Shahbaz earned commanding straight-set wins at the No. 6 and No. 2 positions, respectively.
Ball State has been anchored by its top doubles pairing of Shahbaz and Isabelle Tanjuatco. The duo enters the match against the Bearcats with a perfect 4-0 spring ledger.
Cincinnati welcomes Ball State after a hard-fought 4-3 victory over fellow Mid-American Conference member Miami (OHI) last weekend. The Bearcats are led by Sakurako Watanabe, who dominated her recent singles match 6-1, 6-0, and have seen additional strong performances from Tara Kurepa and Rozalia Gruszczynska.
Ball State holds a 6-1 lead in the all-time series against the Bearcats. The last meeting between the two programs occurred in 2017, resulting in a 6-1 victory for the Cardinals.
Following Wednesday's match, the Cardinals will head to West Lafayette, Indiana, to face Purdue University on Friday, Feb. 20, at 1:00 p.m.
