Rogers Named MIVA Co-Offensive Player of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. – After aiding the Ball State men's volleyball program to a 5-0 mark at home with sweeps over Maryville (MO) and no. 20 Charleston, outside hitter Patrick Rogers was named the Midwestern Volleyball Association Co-Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday morning. He shares the honor with McKendree's Sam Hoskin.
In the Cardinals' contest versus the Saints (Jan. 22), Rogers posted a match-high 14 kills on a .565 clip with one service ace to give Ball State 15.5 points. The following night versus the Golden Eagles (Jan. 23), the MIVA Preseason Player of the Year once again led both teams with 11 kills and three aces, hitting .563 for 14.5 points.
On top of his offensive performance, Rogers was an effective contributor to Ball State's defense this past weekend, totaling 10 digs and two blocks. His block assist versus Maryville at the end of the third set gave the Cardinals match point and completed the men's sweep.
The Cardinals hit the road to Fairfax, Va. this week for a pair of matches. The men's team battles Maryland Eastern Shore on Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. ET, followed by George Mason Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. ET.
