Cardinals Make Rare New England Visit This Weekend

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State football travels to New England this weekend, marking the program's seventh trip to the region in the program's history. The Cardinals face Connecticut Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field, its third trip to the Huskies' home territory, but its first visit to the venue.
The Cardinals took two trips to UConn's then home site, Memorial Stadium, in the early 2000s, winning 10-5 in 2001 and 24-21 in overtime in 2002. Those games were part of a three-year stretch while the Huskies were transitioning from I-AA.
Although it hasn't been since 2014, Ball State has visited two other New England-area programs. The Cardinals lost to the Mid-American Conference's newest addition, UMass, in 1984 (26-10) and 2014 (24-10) and fell to power-conference opponent Boston College in 2003 and 2005.
This weekend's contest marks the first time the Cardinals go up against New England teams in back-to-back weeks, topping New Hampshire last week and now traveling to Connecticut for game four of Ball State's 2025 campaign.
Kickoff at UConn is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET, with the game broadcast on CBS Sports Network and WLBC 104.1 FM.
