June 03, 2025 | Baseball
Garrett Arnold, Blake Bevis, Dylan Grego, Keegan Johnson and Owen Quinn have been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators, the CSC announced Tuesday.
To be eligible for the recognition, student-athletes need to be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and participate in at least 90 percent of the team's contests or pitch in at least 17 games or 35 innings for pitchers.
"It is great to see our guys recognized on the field and in the classroom," Ball State head coach Rich Maloney said. "These guys have balanced well their love for playing baseball and their education which lasts a lifetime. I'm proud of them for their accomplishments."
The Academic All-America teams will be announced on July 2.
Arnold graduated with a degree in general studies and hit .318 on the year as the team's primary backstop.
Bevis is a junior studying exercise science and was recently voted a First Team All-MAC outfielder after hitting 18 home runs while producing 52 RBI.
Grego is a junior majoring in business administration who was voted First Team All-MAC with team-bests in batting average (.376) and OPS (1.053) on his way to collecting the third-most hits in a season (91) in program history.
Johnson, a sophomore actuarial science major, was recognized as First Team All-MAC for the second straight season thanks to a 7-3 record and 75 strikeouts in 70.2 innings pitched on the year.
Quinn is a junior studying sport administration who led the team in ERA (4.01) while posting a 4-3 record and four saves and finishing third on the team with 46 strikeouts and 51.2 innings.
