Opening Tip:
- Saturday's game against Ohio will mark the 75th time in program history the two schools have met with the Bobcats leading the all-time series record, 39-35. The Cardinals have won the home-and-away series against Ohio the last four seasons. Ball State hasn't lost to Ohio since Feb. 10, 2021 when the Cardinals fell to the Bobcats 88-66 in Muncie. Seniors Ally Becki, Madelyn Bischoff and Marie Kiefer have compiled at 7-0 record over their four years against Ohio.
- With the win against Buffalo Wednesday, the Cardinals claimed sole possession of the Mid-American Conference regular season title for the first time in 22 years. The last time the Cardinals earned the title was in 2002-03. Ball State will enter next week's MAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed in Cleveland for the first time since 2009 when Ball State won the tournament.Â
- If the tournament were to start today, the top-seeded Cardinals would face the eighth seeded Western Michigan Broncos at Rocket Arena. Ball State and Western Michigan would be the first quarterfinal game of the day on Wednesday, March 12 at 11 am ET. If Ball State advances to the semifinals they will take on either No. 4 Kent State or No. 5 Miami. The Cardinals won both their game versus the Broncos this season, split the two-game series verus the Golden Flashes and was victorious in the lone meeting against the RedHawks.Â
- This marks the 35th appearance in the Mid-American Conference Tournament in program history. Ball State has advanced to Cleveland 23 out of the past 25 seasons. The Cardinals are 24-33 all-time in MAC Tournament play and have advanced to the MAC Tournament finals on six occasions. Ball State defeated Bowling Green in 2009 in the MAC Tournament Championship game. This is the 10th time in current head coach Brady Sallee's tenure the Cardinals have punched their ticket straight to the MAC Tournament in Cleveland.
- After today's contest against the Bobcats the Cardinals will pay tribute to their six seniors, Lachelle Austin, Ally Becki, Madelyn Bischoff, Marie Kiefer, Alex Richard and Elise Stuck. Between these six seniors the Cardinals have earned a MAC regular season title, have won 97 games including a program record 28 last season. They have helped Ball State reach postseason play three years in a row along with a MAC Tournament championship appearance and two semifinal rounds. Between Becki, Bischoff and Kiefer they have won more games than any other senior group to have played at Ball State all four years.
