MUNCIE, Ind. -- For the second year in-a-row, Jenelle Rogers will represent Ball State in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. This year, the championships will be held in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. Â
Rogers qualified with a score of 4,188 which she received at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. She won the competition, leading in four of the five events. Â
Most recently, Rogers became the Mid-American Conference Champion in the pentathlon, winning with a score of 3,998. In a similar fashion, she led four events, including the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and long jump. Â
This will be the fourth consecutive year that Ball State track and field has had an athlete qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Charity Griffith represented the Cardinals in 2022 and 2023 in the high jump and the pentathlon and for the past two years, Rogers has represented in the pentathlon. Last season, Rogers was the runner-up, finishing with a personal best score and Ball State record of 4,430 points. Â
"I am excited to have another opportunity for Jenelle to represent Ball State and the Mid-American Conference at the National Championships," said head coach, Adrian Wheatley. "Taking over this program four years ago, we have had consistent success at the conference and national level. The Indoor Championship is one of the toughest championships to make at the NCAA level and we have consistently had an athlete or athletes qualify over the past four years. Our staff has been comitted to continually developing our student-athletes and providing them with the opportunities to be the best versions of themselves."Â
The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place Mar. 14-15 with competition opening Friday morning in the multi-events. The first event of the pentathlon is scheduled to begin at 9:35 a.m. ET. Fans can stream the championships on the ESPN family of networks.Â
