Men’s Tennis Opens MAC Play This Weekend at Home Against Toledo Friday; Hosts Buffalo Sunday
March 06, 2025 | Men's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team opens Mid-American Conference action this weekend when it hosts Toledo on Friday at 1 pm ET and then Buffalo on Sunday for an 11 am ET first serve.
Both matches are currently scheduled to be played indoors at the Northwest YMCA Tennis Center. As always with weather, if matches are moved outdoors to the Foster Adams Family Tennis Complex and Bill Richards Tennis Courts it will be announced on the men's tennis social media pages that morning of the match.
The Cardinals finished non-conference play with a 7-4 mark while the Rockets bring a 6-4 ledger, and the Bulls enter this weekend's competition holding a 7-4 record.
Ball State split its two-match series versus Toledo last year falling to the Rockets 4-3 in Ohio and then defeating UT in Muncie by a score of 5-2. The Cardinals swept the series over the Bulls winning both matches home-and-away by a 5-2 decision.
Ball State has found a lot of success under longtime head coach Bill Richards during league play. Richards has led the program to 38 MAC tournament and or regular season titles over his tenure with the Cardinals. Since the MAC tournament format started in 1997, the Cardinals have won it seven times (1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2011, and 2014.)
After this weekend, Ball State men's tennis continues conference action on the road at Northern Illinois (March 13) and UIC (March 15). The times for those matches will begin at 2 pm ET and 4 pm ET, respectively.
