Opening Tip:
- Wednesday's contest marks the 95th time in program history the two schools have met with  Toledo leading the all-time series record, 62-32. Ball State split the home-and-away series with the Rockets last season defeating them on the CBS Sports Network on Jan. 21, 2024 by a 65-51 ledger. The Cardinals then fell to the Rockets in Toledo on Feb. 24, 2024 in Savage Arena by a 70-48 decision. Ball State won its first meeting this year versus Toledo on CBS Sports Network by a score of 77-63 in Muncie on Jan. 20.
- With the win at Eastern Michigan Saturday, the Cardinals secured their spot in the 2025 MAC Tournament in Cleveland (March 12-15). This marks the 35th appearance in the MAC Tournament in program history. Ball State has advanced to Cleveland 23 out of the past 25 seasons. The Cardinals are 24-33 all-time in MAC Tournament play and have advanced to the MAC Tournament finals on six occasions. Ball State defeated Bowling Green in 2009 in the MAC Tournament Championship game. This is the 10th time in current head coach Brady Sallee's tenure the Cardinals have punched their ticket straight to the MAC Tournament in Cleveland.
- Ball State set a program record for best MAC start improving to 12-0 in league play after beating EMU 74-69 in Ypsilanti on Feb. 15.Â
- The Cardinals are one of 12 teams remaining in the country with an undefeated conference ledger. If Ball State defeats Toledo on Wednesday they will improve to 13-0 for the first time in program history. The last time a MAC school went 13-0 in league action was when Bowling Green went 14-0 in 2006-07 and 2008-09. Only two schools in the MAC have finished conference action undefeated and that was Bowling Green (16-0) in 2005-06 and Kent State (18-0) in 1997-98. Brady Sallee was an assistant coach with the Golden Flashes when Kent State went 18-0.Â
- The Cardinals have been road warriors the past four years during Mid-American Conference action. Ball State owns a 34-10 (.767) ledger when playing league games on the road dating back to 2021 which was their best showing as the Cardinals went 9-1 that year.
- Ball State has won 16-straight MAC regular season games. The Cardinals haven't lost a regular season league contest since Feb. 24, 2024, which was at Toledo.Â
BSU on ESPNU:
The Ball State women's basketball team will play in a nationally televised regular season game on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 12 p.m. ET when it hosts Kent State in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals are the only league school to have been chosen to play on ESPNU three years in row. The contest will be a rematch of a game played on Jan. 15, with the Cardinals defeating the Golden Flashes, 66-57, at the M.A.C Center. With eight games remaining in the MAC regular season, the Cardinals (18-4, 10-0 MAC) remain atop of the league standings two games ahead of their counterparts. Ball State is the only team in conference play that is undefeated, and the Cardinals currently have won 12 in a row. This is the second time this season that the Cardinals will have played on a national stage. Ball State played on the CBS Sports Network on Jan. 20 and will now be on ESPNU.
Scouting Toledo:
- The Rockets enter the matchup on a season-long six-game winning streak after defeating Akron, 75-54, at home on Saturday. Toledo out-scored the Zips, 48-27, in the second half to complete the regular-season sweep. Khera Goss and Sammi Mikonowicz each scored 16 points, with Goss shooting 3-of-6 from three-point range and Mikonowicz going 8-of-8 at the free-throw line. The Rockets are 10-1 at home this season.
- Toledo is 10-1 in Savage Arena, the fourth-consecutive season UT has reached double-digit home wins.
- Four of Toledo's conference home victories have been by double digits, with the Rockets securing double-digit wins over Kent State, Ohio and Bowling Green and Akron. The Akron victory was Toledo's largest home margin of MAC play.
- Toledo is out-shooting its opponents 49.2%-33.1% in its last four games.
The Possibility is Near:
With only six Mid-American Conference games left, Ball State remains atop of the league standings with a perfect 12-0 MAC mark. The Cardinals are on pace to be crowned the MAC Regular Season Champions which hasn't been done since the 2002-03 season. It will mark only the third time in program history that the Ball State women's basketball team will have been crowned the regular season title the other year was in 2001-02. Â
