Men’s Tennis Loses Another Close Match Falling 4-3 to Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the second-straight match the Cardinals (4-4) would drop a 4-3 nail biter this time at Cleveland State (1-5) Saturday morning at the Medical Mutual Pavilion.
Anthony Shalakov and Mason Tran started doubles play with a 6-2 win over the Vikings' Cole Chappell and Ty Rothchild on court No. 3 to give BSU the upper hand. The top two courts were competitive, but Cleveland State would win both by a 6-4 decision to take the doubles point from Ball State.
In singles, Cleveland State took three of the six courts from Ball State. Jenson Bicanic earned the first point of the match for the Cardinals defeating Rothchild at the No. 6 slot in straight frames, 7-5, 6-2. Both Tran and Jacks Lancaster were victorious in three set thrillers on courts two and three, respectively.
The Ball State men's tennis team returns home in a double-header on Saturday, Feb. 22 when BSU hosts IU Indy at 12 pm ET and then IU East at 5 pm ET or following the first match of the day. Both matches will be played at the Northwest YMCA.
