Women's S&D Dominates Bellarmine at Home

MUNCIE, Ind. – In front of a packed Lewellen Aquatic Center, the Ball State women's swimming and diving program took the top placement in 11 of 11 meets Saturday afternoon, sweeping Bellarmine to complete a 158-47 victory over the Knights at home.
The meet saw eight different Cardinals secure first place finishes, led by Ava Butterfield who captured her second and third individual event wins of the season, touching the wall first in the 200 IM (2:09.59) and 100 backstroke (57.37). Butterfield also led the winning 200 medley relay team to open the meet (1:44.92), joining Anna Keen, Payton Kelly and Kiley Zoeller.
The freshmen dominance versus Ohio the day before continued its way into the afternoon, as Addy Czarnecki, Addie Beasley and Reagan Graves each contributed to Ball State's individual event win total. Czarnecki stamped a dominating time of 10:33.58 in the 1000 freestyle, finishing 19 seconds ahead of second place. Beasley took first in the 200 freestyle (1:56.47), her second individual win of the year, while Graves saw a win in the 500 freestyle (5:10.20), her first of the season.
Also earning their first wins of the year were Savannah Farlee, who place first in the 100 butterfly (56.36), and Haley Sakbun who placed first in the 100 freestyle (54.12). Farlee was followed my Milagros Amione (57.45) and Haley Johnson (58.53) to complete a top three sweep.
In the 50 freestyle, Kelly placed first with a time of 23.05, setting her third Lewellen Pool record of the weekend and earning her seventh individual event win of the year.
Anna Keen took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:04.91.
Ball State closed the meet with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:34.19), thanks to the team of Alyssa Messenger, Sakbun, Kiran Stauffer and Kelly.
Next up, the women compete at the House of Champions, hosted by IU Indy Nov. 20-22.
