Men's S&D Tops Bellarmine

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's swimming and diving program put together a dominating performance versus Bellarmine inside of the packed Lewellen Aquatic Center, putting together 11 event wins to defeat the Knights 152-53.
Jacob Siewers picked up two freestyle victories, placing first in the 50 (21.33) and 100 (45.87) freestyles.
The men opened and closed the afternoon with relay victories, as the team of William Raches, Aidan Biddle, AJ Friend and Benjamin Clarkston started things off with a time of 1:31.34 in the 200 medley relay. Friend and Clarkston later joined forces with Siewers and George Patterson to place first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:04.31).
Tommy Brunner claimed the top placement in the longest event of the afternoon, placing first in the 1000 freestyle (9:58.23).
Patterson continued his early collegiate success, picking up a win in the 200 IM (1:54.71) and earning his third individual event win of the season. Freshmen Henry Ko and Colin Walrond also hit their strides, with Ko taking first in the 500 freestyle (4:46.32) and Walrond earning his inaugural collegiate win in the 100 backstroke (51.40)
Malcolm Slater rounded out the men's freestyle success with a win in the 200 (1:42.09).
Also earning individual event wins against the Knights were Biddle in the 100 breaststroke (56.51) and Benjamin Clarkston in the 100 butterfly (50.69).
On the boards, Zach Shaddy and Porter Brovont earned NCAA Zone Diving qualifying marks, with Shaddy scoring 305.40 in the 1M and 322.58 on the 3M, and Brovont scoring 322.35 on the 3M.
Following the win at home, the men travel to IU Indy Nov. 20-22 to compete at House of Champions.
