Cross Country Team Competes Among 42 Teams at Notre Dame on Friday
October 02, 2025 | Cross Country
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State cross country team embarks on its third meet of the fall season on Friday, traveling to South Bend to race among 42 schools represented at the Joe Piane Invitational on Notre Dame's Burke Golf Course.
Friday's 5K race starts at 11:50 a.m., with the Cardinals running the same lineup that finished sixth at the George Dales Invite in Michigan two weeks ago. Senior Carly Spletzer finished 12th in that race, her first of the season, while freshman Emily Decker finished 25th out of 117 runners.
This week's race will be a larger test for Ball State, racing in a gold division with 22 schools, following a 20-team blue-division race that takes place two hours earlier. In all, men's and women's teams from around the country will compete in five different races in what is annually one of the biggest meets on the Cardials' schedule.
Rounding out the Ball State lineup are sophomore Tori Jackson, freshmen Rosie Gonzalez and Sadey Seyferth, and junior Kendyl Thrasher whose 6K time in Kalamazoo two weeks ago was the best time of her career.
