WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team competed in its second fall tournament this past weekend when it traveled to Purdue University for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional.
"The team continues to make great improvement each week and this weekend we competed at a higher level than we did in our first fall invite," Ball State head coach Gene Orlando said.
Freshman Andrei Caragea highlighted this weekend's tournament by earning a 2-1 singles mark and a 1-1 doubles ledger.
Caragea opened the tournament with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Kristof Kinceses of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. He then later fell to Big Ten foe Indiana Universities' Deacon Thomas by a 7-5, 7-5 decision.
On Saturday, Caragea ended his singles competition on a high note beating Rohan Loubser of Austin Peay, 6-1, 7-5.
In doubles, Caragea paired up with teammate Jacks Lancaster where the twosome earned a highly competitive 8-7 (9-7) victory versus Vanderbilt's Pablo Gomez Martinez and Nathan Cox.
The Ball State men's tennis team will take the weekend off for homecoming before returning to the court Oct. 24-26 in Kalamazoo, Michigan for the MAC Indoor competition.
