January 31, 2025 | Men's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team will host Dayton for its 2025 home opener Saturday at the Northwest YMCA. First serve is at 4 pm ET.
The Cardinals enter Saturday's match with a 1-2 record after defeating Illinois State last week by a score of 4-3. Ball State's two losses came against Big Ten foes Michigan (7-0) and Indiana (4-3).
The Flyers are coming off an impressive win versus Lipscomb, where they won the match 6-1. That win helped improve their record to 1-1 on the season. Kyle McNally, Mikkel Zinder, Alfons Ridstrom, Sturle Skigelstrand, and Sai Dore all picked up singles victories.
For Ball State, Nathaniel Webster already garnered MAC Player of the Week honors after registering a top court win at Indiana on Jan. 18 in Bloomington. Webster took down Indiana's No. 1 player Jip van Assendelft by a score of 6-3, 7-5. It was Ball State's first point of the match and would spark a near comeback as the Cardinals fell to the Hoosiers by a score of 4-3.
The Cardinals fell 5-2 against the Flyers in their last meeting on Jan. 27, 2024 in Dayton. Ball State has won eight of their last nine meetings versus the Flyers.
After this weekend, the Cardinals will return home to take on Eastern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 7 in Muncie at 1 pm ET.
