NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team opened spring play at Notre Dame Friday evening, suffering a 4-0 setback to the Fighting Irish at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
The doubles point was won by Notre Dame to take the early 1-0 edge over Ball State after the Fighting Irish took courts one and three from the Cardinals. On court two, BSU's duo of Annika Planinsek and Jemima Williams-Phillips were knotted 4-4 versus Notre Dame's Nibi Ghosh and Rylie Hanford before the match went unfinished.
In singles, Notre Dame would win at the No. 3, 6, and 5 slots to clinch the victory. Planinsek and Elena Malykh had dropped their first frames on the top two courts, respectively but were each leading their opponents in the second set before the match had ended.
