
Cross Country Competes on New Course in Championship Preview Meet

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State cross country team faced the heat and competed on its new course for the first time Saturday afternoon. With the addition of the Ball State Cross Country Course, this was the first time the Cardinals have had the opportunity to compete on-campus.Â
In a tough race, Carly Spletzer led the way for the Cardinals, finishing fifth with a time of 22:42.43. Â
Next in was Sarah Mahnensmith, finishing 11th with a time of 23:34.33. Closely following was Evie Noel in her Ball State cross country debut. Noel finished 12th with a time of 23:43.58. Â
Shelby Christman crossed the finish line with a time of 24:08.34. Not far behind, Tori Jackson finished with a time of 24:10.18 in her first collegiate 6k race. Â
Coming in with a time of 24:39.32 was Autumn Spence and completing the Cardinal pack was Jenna Schifferer, crossing the line with a time of 25:37.27. Â
With the Cardinals set to host the 2024 MAC Championship meet, Saturday's race was an excellent opportunity for the team to experience the course in a competitive setting. Â Â
Looking ahead, the team will shift their focus to the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite which is scheduled for Friday, October 4 in South Bend, Indiana. Â
