
For Second Time In Three Years, Ball State Wins MAC's Institutional Academic Achievement Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the fourth time in program history and the second time in three years, Ball State University has been named the winner of the 2023-24 Mid-American Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award. For this annual award, the Cardinals posted an overall athletic grade point average (GPA) of 3.447 for the 2023-24 academic year based on 433 students in 18 sports. In addition, Ball State's 992 score in the NCAA's Academic Progress Rating (APR) was the highest among MAC schools.
Ball State University earned the highest GPAs in football (3.165), women's soccer (3.852), and men's swimming and diving (3.392).
"I am excited about the many successes and positive news about Ball State athletics, but the one constant at Ball State continues to be our commitment to academic excellence," said Ball State Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell. "Our student-athletes should take great pride in claiming this year's MAC Institutional Achievement Award. I am proud of the commitment they make to themselves and to each other to be leaders on our campus."
The honor is presented annually to the MAC institution which achieves the highest overall institutional GPA for student-athletes competing in institutionally sponsored sports for the academic year.
