Women's Volleyball Earns Another AVCA Team Academic Award

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's volleyball program was one of a record number of more than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball teams nationwide to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2023-24 season.
The Cardinals, who claimed the honor for the eighth straight season and the 14th time overall, finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.63 team GPA.
Of Ball State's 18 countable student-athletes, 17 maintained at least a 3.07 GPA during the academic year, with freshman Reese Baker, senior Zoe Conway, senior Lauren Gilliland, freshman Lindsey Green, graduate student Addie Halverson, graduate student Marie Plitt, senior Cait Snyder and senior Kate Vinson all boasting perfect 4.00 GPAs.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball programs which display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Ball State, which will be looking for its sixth postseason bid in seven seasons, opens its 2024 home slate Saturday, Aug. 24 with a 2 p.m. exhibition match versus Indiana State.
Overall, the Cardinals will play nine matches in Worthen Arena the upcoming season, looking to build upon its 318-96 (.768) all-time record in the venue.
