May 14, 2024 | Men's Golf
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Just past 2 p.m., Tuesday, the NCAA has suspended regional play for the rest of the day due to course conditions and impending rain in the forecast. The third round of play in the Chapel Hill Regional will resume at UNC Finley Golf Club on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
Ball State, tied for second at the close of Round 1 on Monday afternoon, slipped to eighth place by Monday evening when second-round play was halted due to darkness. Ball State golfers Kash Bellar and Carter Smith each completed a final hole early this morning, with the Cardinals sitting in ninth place at the conclusion of Round 2. Third-round play commenced at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, but was suspended twice. The second suspension was extended until 2:30 p.m. before being washed out completely and a resumption scheduled Wednesday morning.
Bellar and Smith broke out the clubs for their final hole Tuesday morning -- Bellar bogeying the ninth hole and Smith shooting par. Then, when the third round began, Smith shot 1-over over the first and second holes; Bellar bogeyed the first hole and Ali Khan shot par on the opening hole. Alec Cesare, in 20th place overall, and Braxton Kuntz, in ninth, were left waiting to play the first hole.
