Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision at NIU

SYCAMORE, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team (11-9, 5-4 MAC) dropped a 5-2 decision at Northern Illinois (18-4, 7-2 MAC) Friday afternoon at Sycamore High School Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals fell behind early to the Huskies after losing on courts one and three by 6-2 decisions. Mason Tran and Jacks Lancaster were up 4-3 at the No. 2 slot against NIU's Saul Berdullas and Armin Koschtojan before play was abandoned.
In singles, the Huskies took four of the six courts from the Cardinals to claim the match win today.
Vince Orlando beat NIU's No. 2 player, Michael Vollbach, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) while Lancaster also earned a point for the Cardinals after his 7-5, 6-3 defeat against Koschtojan at the No. 5 slot.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues action on the road Sunday when it plays at the conference's newest member UIC at 1 pm ET. The Cardinals defeated the Flames in their first meeting this season in Muncie by a score of 6-1 on March 10.
