
Rogers Secured the Pentathlon Win at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Ball State track and field continued to shine at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational Friday and Saturday in South Bend, Indiana.
The weekend started off strong as Jenelle Rogers represented the Cardinals in the pentathlon. Within her first two events, Rogers secured the lead and two personal bests. She ran a time of 8.42 in the 60m hurdles then achieved the highest mark of 1.76m in the high jump. Following, Rogers threw for 14.42m in the shot put, hit a mark of 5.48m in the long jump, and closed out the series running the 800m in 2:30.70. Her efforts were good for a combined winning score of 4163, a new personal best.
The afternoon was full of more successes. In the 60m hurdles qualifying event, Jennah Rogers ran a new season-best time of 8.77, just 0.2 seconds off her personal best. Soon after, Moriah Johnson and Allison Valladay both recorded personal bests in the 60m qualifying event with times of 7.59 and 7.89. Johnson's efforts were good to advance her to the 60m preliminaries.
Closing out Friday night for the Cardinals, Alana Springer finished ninth in the 200m out of 35 entries. Close behind, Johnson finished 14th with a new indoor best time of 25.13. Paige Kirtz also recorded an indoor best in the 200m with a time of 26.00.
Saturday started with the triple jump, where both Mckenna Cinotte and Brenna Lehrke hit new records. Cinotte hit a season-best jump of 11.71m, good for a sixth-place finish. Lehrke finished 12th with a new personal record of 11.32m.
In the distance events, Carly Spletzer had a huge 3000m performance, finishing fifth and shaving seven seconds off her time for a new personal best of 9:55.81.
Middle distance saw some personal improvement as well. Emma Potter ran a new season best in the 400m with a time of 56.58, good for eighth place. In the 800m, Leila Williams-Molitor hit a new personal best time of 2:17.84.
The Cardinals will look ahead to February 9 for the Grand Valley State University Big Meet. That will be their last regular season meet before they head to the Indoor MAC Championship on February 23 and 24.
