
Men’s Swimmers Top Bellarmine In Saturday Dual

LOUISVILLE, KY - - The Ball State men's swimming program won eight of 11 events Saturday afternoon to earn a 127-78 victory over Bellarmine at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Benjamin Clarkston was the big winner for the Cardinals (3-1), taking top honors in both the 50 (21.20) and 100 (57.98) freestyles. He also swam anchor for the first-place 200 medley relay (1:33.37).
Clarkston was joined in the opening relay by junior Ethan Pheifer, freshman Aidan Biddle and junior Michael Burns.
Freshman Tommy Brunner followed with a time of 9:46.92 in the day's longest event, the 1000 freestyle. It was the first of four straight individual event victories for the Cardinals.
The next came from Senior Owen Chaye in the 200 freestyle (1:43.11), and after Clarkston's win in the 50 freestyle, junior Max Kruglov touched the wall first in the 200 IM (1:56.19).
The Cardinals would close out the meet by winning the final two events, starting with Biddle in the 100 breaststroke (57.98).
Senior Joey Garberick, Pheifer, sophomore Jacob Siewers and Chaye followed by earning a final wall touch of 3:09.94 to win the 400 freestyle relay.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving program is set to close the regular season next weekend with the divers competing at the Miami Classic (Feb. 9-10) and the team competing at Southern Illinois (Feb. 10).
