OXFORD, Ohio - - Junior Payton Kelly picked up her eighth individual victory of the season to help lead a strong effort from the Ball State women's swimming & diving program on the opening day of the Miami Invitational.
In fact, Kelly's time of 22.52 to win the 50 freestyle helped set up a 1-2 finish for the Cardinals in the event as freshman Anna Keen tied for second with the fifth-fastest individual 50 free swim in program history at 22.82.
It was the second of three entries in the program record book for Keen, who opened the evening session by leading off the 200 freestyle relay which turned in the second-fastest time on BSU's all-time list at 1:31.95. She was joined in the race by junior Haley Sakbun, sophomore Natalie Marshall and Kelly.
The Cardinals then closed the night with the fifth-fastest 400 medley relay in program history at junior Alyssa Messenger, sophomore Julia Ofman, Keen and Kelly produced a final wall touch of 3:42.94.
