
Brovont Earns Second MVC Diver of the Week Honor This Season

ST. LOUIS - - For the second time this season, Ball State junior Porter Brovont has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Diver of the Week.

Brovont earned the honor after placing second on both the 1M and 3M boards at the Miami Invitational (Dec. 5-7). His best score came on three-meter with a season best six-dive tally of 304.85. Brovont was fourth coming out of the 3M prelims, at 243.70, but turned up the heat in the finals to fall just 2.05 points shy of the event winner.

Brovont also scored 279.65 on 1M, just 2.20 points shy of first place.

This is the second time Brovont has earned the MVC weekly diving award after a trip to the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center, as his first honor came after he won both events in an Oct. 18 dual at Miami.

Brovont and the rest of the Ball State men's swimming & diving team return to action Friday, Jan. 10 with a 1 p.m. quad meet at Indiana State with UIndy and Southern Illinois. The following day (Jan. 11), both the men and women will be in action at the Lewellen Aquatic Center as the Cardinals host Evansville at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
