
Men’s Swimming & Diving Snags Five Event Wins at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving team picked up five event wins but could not get past a solid Miami squad in a 190-110 setback Friday afternoon at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
Senior Joey Garberick turned in another solid all-around performance, sweeping the breaststroke events and swimming the second leg of the first-place 200 freestyle relay to help account for three of the Cardinals' (2-1; 0-1 MAC) five victories.
Garberick's first win came in the 100 breaststroke with an effort of 55.34. He followed by taking top honors in the 200 breaststroke with a clocking of 2:03.41. Garberick closed the day by combining for a winning time of 1:23.19 in the 200 freestyle relay with senior Owen Chaye, sophomore Benjamin Clarkston and sophomore Jacob Siewers.
Chaye and Siewers also picked up an individual wins on the day, with Chaye winning the 50 freestyle in 20.75 and Siewers taking top honors in the 100 freestyle at 45.56.
Sophomore Porter Brovont led the Cardinals in the diving well, placing second on both 1M (293.25) and 3M (299.63). His 3M score was a season best performance.
Another highlight of the day came from freshman Tommy Brunner, who place second in the 1000 freestyle with the fourth-fastest individual time in program history at 9:37.64.
The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to action Sunday at Noon when it competes in the Butler Invite at Fishers High School.
