
Cardinals See More Success on Last Day of Hawkeye Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa. -- Track and field had another exciting outing as they opened 2024 at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
Saturday morning started with the high jump where Jenelle Rogers secured a second-place finish with a jump of 1.65m.
Later in the day, field events wrapped up with the triple jump where Mckenna Cinotte took third place and finished with a distance of 11.42m.
On the track, Alexis Thigpen had a strong performance in the 600m, finishing sixth and running a personal best time of 1:35.43. Maci Hoskins and Mikayla Mimnaugh also ran a personal best in the 600m with times of 1:46.31 and 1:46.95.
The women's 60m hurdle finals also produced impressive results. Rogers finished fourth with a time of 8.73. Close behind, Lauren Graham finished sixth and ran a personal best time of 8.76.
Cardinal athletes swept third through sixth place in the 60m finals, with Makayla Sumrall (7.60) leading the pack. Sumrall was followed by Alana Springer (7.61), Jenna Oriani (7.61) and Moriah Johnson (7.63).
Late afternoon saw more success with Oriani taking second in the 200m and finishing with a time of 24.51. Springer was not far behind, finishing sixth with a time of 24.82.
The team's success didn't stop there as Hoskins had an incredible first-place finish in the 3000m, finishing with a time of 10:57.92.
The team will hope to capitalize on their success as they prepare to see conference foes next weekend as they head to Ypsilanti, Michigan for the Bob Parks Memorial Meet.
