
Gallagher Leads Women's Golf on Day 2 of Golfweek Red Sky Classic

WOLCOTT, Colo. - - Sophomore Sarah Gallagher fired her second consecutive 75 (+3) to lead the Ball State women's golf team in the second round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic Tuesday afternoon at the Fazio Course at the Red Sky Golf Club.

With the back-to-back 75's, Gallagher enters the final round of the three-day event tied for 23rd overall at 150 (+6). She is currently nine strokes off the lead, and six back of the top 10. Gallagher's Tuesday effort included her first eagle of the season on the par-5, 512-yard 18th hole. The Cardinals' second in as many days on the 18th.

Gallagher is one of just 21 players to record an eagle over the opening two days, joining junior teammate Sabrina Langerak who closed the opening day with one on the 18th. In addition, Gallagher collected birdies on holes four and 11, and is currently tied for 17th in the tournament with six total birdies.

Also turning in a solid second round was freshman JJ Gregston who battled to finish the day with a 76 (+4). She collected three birdies in her round and finished her final nine holes at +1. Gregston is one of two Cardinals currently tied for 55th at 156 (+12), with the other being sophomore Jasmine Driscoll.

As a team, the Cardinals battled fast greens, tough pin locations and windy conditions to finish the round with a score of 312 (+24). The effort helped Ball State climb past Little Rock for 15th place with a two-day tally of 620 (+44).

Ninth-ranked Pepperdine still leads the event at 573 (-3), shooting even on the day. Ball State is 14 strokes back of breaking into the top 10.

The final round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic begins at 9:15 a.m. MT Wednesday with a shotgun start. The Cardinals will start on holes 12-16.
