"Voice of the Cardinals" Steps Into Expanded Role as Director of Digital Brand Strategy
July 27, 2023 | General
MUNCIE, Ind. – As Mick Tidrow readies himself to begin his second year as Ball State's "Voice of the Cardinals," the two-time Ball State graduate has assumed an expanded role as the athletic department's director of broadcasting and digital brand strategy.
In his role, Tidrow serves as the radio play-by-play voice for all Ball State football and men's basketball games, in addition to calling most ESPN+ broadcasts, hosting coaches shows, podcasts and providing regular appearances in social media packages. As director of digital brand strategy, he oversees content and branding among Ball State's social media platforms.
In his expanded role within Ball State's athletic communications office, he continues a path set in motion following his undergraduate years when he broadcast baseball games for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (2017) and Missoula Osprey (2018) and doubled as their social media coordinator, helping grow the followings of each fan base.
"We are thrilled to have Mick expand his role in our department," said Ball State Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell. "He is a vibrant and talented broadcaster and leader who has a passion for Ball State Athletics and who understands the nuances of social media and building brand awareness. His new duties will go a long way in helping elevate our athletic communications staff as we continue to develop and promote the Ball State brand."
A graduate of Ball State's nationally-acclaimed Sports Link program, he earned a master's degree in digital storytelling in 2020 and was hired as the Cardinals' "Voice" in 2022. His first broadcast was last year's football season opener at Tennessee, and he is readying for his gridiron broadcast debut at Kentucky and Georgia when the Cardinals begin their 2023 season in the coming weeks.
